Equipment

  • measuring cups
  • spoon or whisk
  • small saucepan
  • mug or heat-safe cup
  • frother or whisk
  • serving glass

Method

  1. Steep the chai tea in the hot water for 5 to 7 minutes, then remove the tea bags or strain out the leaves.
  2. In a small saucepan or microwave-safe cup, whisk together 1/4 cup of the milk, the pumpkin puree, maple syrup or honey, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract until smooth. Warm gently if desired, but do not boil.
  3. Stir the pumpkin mixture into the brewed chai tea until fully combined. Let it cool slightly, then pour over a glass filled with ice.
  4. To make the cold foam, whisk or froth the heavy cream, remaining 1/4 cup milk, and powdered sugar until thick and foamy.
  5. Spoon the cold foam over the iced pumpkin chai tea and finish with a light sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice. Serve immediately.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, use a plant-based milk and a dairy-free cold foam creamer or coconut cream. Adjust the sweetener to taste and garnish with extra pumpkin pie spice if desired.
