Chocolate-Covered Strawberries

Chocolate-Covered Strawberries

These easy homemade chocolate-covered strawberries are rich, glossy, and delicious! Perfect for Valentine’s Day, weddings, or a simple sweet treat.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 12-15 chocolate-covered strawberries 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) fresh strawberries, washed and completely dried
  • 8 oz (225g) high-quality dark chocolate (or milk/white chocolate)
  • 1 tsp coconut oil or cocoa butter (optional, for smoother chocolate)
  • Optional toppings:
    • Crushed nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, pistachios)
    • Sprinkles
    • Shredded coconut
    • White chocolate for drizzling

Instructions

  • Prepare the strawberries: Wash the strawberries and dry them completely with a paper towel. Let them air dry for at least 30 minutes. Any moisture can prevent the chocolate from sticking.
  • Melt the chocolate:
    • Double Boiler Method: Place chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water. Stir continuously until melted and smooth.
    • Microwave Method: Heat chopped chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring each time until fully melted.
  • Dip the strawberries: Hold each strawberry by the green leaves and dip it into the melted chocolate, swirling gently for an even coat. Let excess chocolate drip off.
  • Add toppings (if desired): Before the chocolate hardens, sprinkle nuts, coconut, or drizzle with melted white chocolate.
  • Let them set: Place dipped strawberries on parchment paper. Allow them to set at room temperature for 30 minutes or refrigerate for 15 minutes until firm.
  • Serve and enjoy! Best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the fridge for up to 48 hours.

Notes

  • Ensure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to prevent chocolate from seizing.
  • Adding 1 tsp of coconut oil or cocoa butter makes the chocolate shinier and smoother.
  • Do not refrigerate for too long, as condensation can make the chocolate sweat.
